Hello! I am honored to be your child's teacher this year. In case you are interested, here is a little bit about me.
I have many loves in my life. My husband and I have been married for 13 years and we added a new member to our family in February 2012. At that time we adopted our son, Colby, who is now 7 years old and will be a second grader at Highcroft Elementary this year. He is so sweet and certainly keeps up busy and entertained. I am a HUGE animal lover. We have a one year old mini bernedoodle named Ollie, who quickly stole all of our hearts and keeps us on our toes. I can’t wait to share my family stories with you this year!
When I'm not teaching, I enjoy shopping, reading, exercising, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends. I am originally from Kansas City, but I moved to St. Louis when I was in second grade. I attended Green Trails Elementary, Parkway Central Middle and High School. What can I say? I am a Parkway girl all the way! After High School, I spent my freshman year at the University of Arizona in Tucson. I learned that although I LOVE warm weather, it wasn't enough to keep me away from my family. I transferred to the University of Missouri, Columbia (Go Tigers!) where I earned my degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I then went on to graduate school through Lindenwood and received my Master’s degree in Education. This is my 15th year of teaching and I absolutely still love what I do. Each year brings new adventures! I taught morning and afternoon kindergarten at McKelvey Elementary for one year, and then I taught first grade at Claymont for 4 years. I then taught third grade for six years, and returned to first grade for now the fourth year in a row. I truly enjoy working with younger students, and I love helping them become strong readers, writers, mathematicians, and scientists. I am looking forward to a wonderful year of learning, fun, and tremendous growth. With each year I get the opportunity to get to know new students and to help them learn and grow as individuals. I can’t wait to see what this year will bring!
